I've always wanted to have beignets…for some reason I missed the opportunity the one time I was in New Orleans. Gotta make these!
i want one so bad!
Was in New Orleans last August and went to Cafe DuMonde for breakfast. The Beignets were to die for.
Yes..they are to die for 😉 We loved them when we went to visit too 🙂
I used this recipe to make beignets for the first time this week and it worked out great. Thanks for an easy and delicious post! A sprinkle of cinnamon added to the powder sugar was also good.
You are very welcome 🙂 Ohhhh…love the addition of the cinnamon and sugar! Gonna have to try that next time 😉
Sounds like my kind of recipe – quick, easy and sooo delicious!
Yes Marsha…it is very quick and easy 😉
hey everyoe
i live in new orleans louisiana heres a great idea for quick beignets buy ready made biscuit dough any kind works cut each biscuit in half heat oil and fry till golden top with lots of powdered sugar
Thank you so much for this tip! I actually have heard of doing this also. Those ready made biscuit doughs are wonderful aren't they? 😉
My mother made doughnuts for us out of canned biscuits back in the 50's and 60's — and I made them for my children and grandchildren. I would also cut each biscuits into 4 pieces to make doughnut holes.
Libby, the way to make them rectangular is to pat out your dough into a large rectangle and then cut them into 3 x 3 rectangles. Hope this helps!
Thank you for the tip 🙂 I will have to try that next time 😉
I frequent Cafe' du Monde as often as I can and this I must say is the perfect recipe for a cold southern Louisiana morning ! 🙂 I did cut them into rectangles as suggested and they are delicious little pillows of yumminess! Thank you!
You are welcome Jess 🙂 Glad you enjoyed them 🙂
Also you can drizzle some honey on them instead of confect. sugar so they taste like sopapillas which is basically the Mexican cousin of beignets …..soooo good too. : )
Thank you for the tip Brad! With honey, they really do taste like sopapillas 🙂
What kind of flour do u use
We used regular all purpose flour.
I put cinnamon in my dough mixture & it was so yummy!
We are seriously going to have to try that next time 😉
