This recipe for Chicken Cream Cheese Crescents comes from my in-laws. It was the first recipe my mother-in-law taught me how to make for Husband Man. I still remember her perched over the counter, a mixing spoon in one hand and a bottle of spices in the other as she attempted to explain how she made them.
It was quite intimidating for a novice cook like myself back then, however, I picked it up pretty quick. These highly resemble my recipe for Chicken and Cheese Stuffed Crescents. These delicious chicken appetizers have stayed in our family for 2 decades and will remain a family favorite forever!

Ingredients and tips for these Cream Cheese Chicken Crescents
Below is a list of helpful ingredients and tips, along with links to purchase what you need. The links are affiliate links and will not change the price of the item.
- Pillsbury Crescent Rolls : The butter flake ones are not recommended. We like using the original ones.
- Shredded Chicken: If you don't have any shredded chicken on hand, rotisserie ones work just as well. Check out my easy hack on how to make 8 cups of shredded chicken.
- Green Onions: These are a MUST! Don't skip this one!
- Cream Cheese: This recipe comes out better using full fat cream cheese.
- Garlic Powder and Seasoned Salt: Do not skip these ingredients. They are what gives the mix it's flavor. If you aren't a fan of Season All, use salt and pepper.
How Do You Keep Crescent Rolls Crispy?
To keep these rolls crispy, it is recommended to wrap them in aluminum foil or saran wrap 12 hours after they are finished cooking. This will keep them nice and crispy and prevent sogginess.
What Can I Do With the Leftover Filling For These Cream Cheese Chicken Crescents?
You can use any left overs as a topping for crackers, place them in the middle of 2 bread slices for a chicken sandwich, or eat the filling as is.
Can I Make These the Day Before and Then Bake?
Due to this recipe using crescent dough, I suggest creating the filling the day before and storing it in the fridge. I would then fill, roll, and bake the crescents the next day. I do not recommend freezing them.
How Can I Turn Crescent Rolls into Rolls?
It's super easy to do this. After placing the chicken filling on each crescent, roll the dough as if you are making regular crescents. You want to make sure you pinch together any openings on the sides and 'shape' them into a roll. No matter how you roll them, they will bake to perfection.
What Bakeware Do I Use To Make These Chicken Crescents?
We enjoy using baking sheets to make these crescents. This Nordic Ware Baking Sheet Set is one we love. The nonstick surface makes it easy to pull the crescents off without sticking. These baking sheets also conduct heat well so each roll bakes evenly.

Thanks Tina 🙂 I <3 recipes that use them too 😉
I've made these for years for luncheons, they are so delicious !
They are very delicious! 😉
Yummmmmm. I LOVE your recipes and will try this one also. These babies may just suit my 3 year old "Picky" eater of a grandson.
Awwww thank you Sandy! I hope these will meet your grandson's approval 😉
I use canned alfreo sauce or ranch dressing instead of cream cheese .I also brush the outside with melted butter with garlic powder .
What great additions! Thanks for sharing 😉
How do I make the Cresent dough into a circle?
Once you place the filling in the roll, roll it up like you a making crescents, and then pinch the edges together so the fillings won't seep out. Then you will have to mold and shape it into a circle. There really isn't a technique to it. You just have to mess around with it until it looks 'circle' like…if that makes sense. Those crescent rolls are pretty darn flexible so don't be afraid to play around with it. Hope that helps some 😉
These lovely rolls are one of my favorite things too! Absolutely LOVE them!
Oh we love them too Marsha! They are hubby's favorites 🙂
I make a lot of cool things with crescent roll as the "dough"… it's really a versatile ingredient to keep on hand!!!
Yes…it really is versatile! We love working with it here 😉
These rolls are a huge favorite in this house!
Me and my picky eater loved these! I had a can of crescents about to expire and these were perfect. I only had garlic/onion powder and seasoned salt on hand for seasoning but it worked out great. Thanks for sharing!
I’m so glad to hear this Heidi! The one is a huge favorite in our house! Thank you for coming back and telling us your experience!
I forgot to add I had leftover filling and plan on eating it w/ crackers tomorrow.
We have done this with the left over filling! It literally can be a meal all on it’s own 😉
Can these be made the day before and baked the next day.
I would suggest making the filing the day before and then putting it all together the day of. I have done this and it works well.
Can these be frozen and reheated?
No they cannot.
We do ours a little differently. We use the same stuffing mix but I use the crescent sheets, cut into 4 squares. I put ½ cup of mixture in a square and fold it over. Then I wrap in saran wrap and vacuum seal and freeze them. Yes in the freezer and have never had an issue in the 55 years of making them. Just unwrap, put on cookie sheet at 375 for 45 mins. I melt butter on top after 20 mins. Enjoy!
Thank you for letting us know your experience with this. I am glad to know you can freeze them!
